Fly Fishing from a Float Tube

The float tube has been becoming increasingly popular by the day with the fly fisherman. This is not happening without any reason. The float tube is one of the cheapest things around and is certainly cheaper than buying a boat. This will also allow you to travel on the boat very smoothly.

The biggest advantage is that the float tubes have been made with the fly fisherman in mind. These float tubes have a large tackle storage, is made for having for some great fun on the water and a great casting ease for the boat.

Statistically, while purchasing a new boat will cost you a fortune, a float tube will cost around 0. In addition, you can also strike a great bargain for these float tubes and have one around to .

How do you get started with the fishing float tube? For the first timers, an aspiring beginner like model would be the most suitable. An example is the White River float boat. These boats are simple in design, pretty cheap to buy and you can take this in to the water pretty easily.

The float tubes can float easily because they have the O or U shaped PVC bladders which are located inside the boat. You need to blow up the central bladder either by hand or by the pump or a compressor. The pumping up can be dome at home, or at the gas post or at the water’s edge.

These types of boats have plenty of space in terms of storage in each of the arm. These enable you to change flies frequently as these have removable wool patches that are attached to the arm via a Velcro. Some tubes also have rod holders. These rod holders can however, be purchased later and these are optional stuff or accessories.

When you are buying these types of boats, you need to ensure that the boat has high visibility safety panel that will be able to send an alert to the riders about your presence on the water. And just to ensure that you are absolutely safe, always wear a PVD.

Float tube fishing thus, makes for a great fishing experience. The light structure of the boat is probably its greatest advantage and probably the most attractive feature too. The overall price that enables you to buy these kinds of boats makes these kinds of boat very reasonably priced too.

Unlike the regular fishing boats which needs a lot of maintenance, these types of boats are pretty much maintenance free in a sense. The greatest advantage with these boats is that these boats can be managed very easily and are not unwieldy.

by Darrel Jennings

When it comes to fly fishing tackle, there are many things that could be considered a part of that group. I will be going over a few of the things that you should have when you are out fly fishing, more than just the fly fishing rod and reel.

You will have a variety of flies to use as bait for the fish. Flies are meant to mimic the look and movement of a fishs natural food source. Some fish prefer different flies, and when you use what they are used to eating, your chances are better of landing a bite. Keep several different types of flies close at hand so you can choose the right fly for the specific fish you are angling for.

The type of line you will be using also plays a big role in fly fishing. Not only do you need a certain pound test if you are fishing for bigger fish, but you will also need line that you will be able to cast efficiently. The line must also match the standards of the fly rod and reel so that you will be able to reel and cast properly.

The majority of fly fisherman will stand in the water when they are fishing, also referred to as wading. For this you will have to invest in a pair of waders, which can be extremely cheap or very expensive. You will have to decide what conditions you primarily be in when you are looking to buy a pair of waders.

Another part of the fishing outfit you should have on top of the waders is a fishing vest. This makes it convenient to store some of your fly fishing tackle in. This allows you to have quick access to flies and other things, instead of returning to shore every time you have to make an adjustment.

Having a pair of good fishing pliers is also a good idea to have on hand. You can keep them in your vest or your waders. The pliers make the process of removing the hook from the fished mouth a much easier task, and also increasing the fishes chance of survival.

Another thing that you can have as a part of your fly fishing gear, but not absolutely necessary, is a water proof camera. Nothing will help you remember those fly fishing trips like a picture, especially if you land a big one!

These are by far not the only things you will need when you are fly fishing. Personal preferences will vary depending upon the person, but items that are mentioned above are the basics that you will need to begin fly fishing.

In fly fishing, flies are generally divided into four types of artificial flies. The categories are, dry flies, wet flies, nymphs, and streamers. Let’s take a look at each category.

The categories of flies can cross into each other. There are no real strict guidelines for classifying the flies as depending on the countries, traditions of terminology. (Some anglers also classify emerges as another category of flies. These sit partially underneath the surface and partially on top of the water, imitating things like newly emerging mayflies.) Dry flies sit on the top of the water.

They are made to look like insects sitting on the surface like mayflies, midges, caddis flies, beetles, grasshoppers, spiders and spinners to name a few types. They can be fished still, drifting with the current or wind, or fished with small twitches or rapid pulls. Dry flies are quite often made of light buoyant materials or are tied with hackles that help the fly sit on the surface of the water. A floatant spray or gel is applied to the dry fly to make it buoyant. A couple of false casts will also help dry it.

Wet flies as the name suggest that the fly is going in the water. The flies can imitate small baitfish, leeches, frogs, crawdad’s and swimming insects. Wets can be fished just under the surface with dead drifts, slow twitches up to fast retrieves. Many times strikes occur when the fly is sinking. For getting wets deep down, weighted or bead heads are effective, especially when combined with intermediate or weighted lines.

Nymphs are a common food source in fresh water streams and lakes. Nymphs can be fished on the drop, drifting, and slow to medium retrieves, either just under the surface or deep down. They imitate the life cycle of immature insects like mayfly nymphs, stoneflies and damselfly nymphs. A good portion of a trout’s diet consists of nymphs in most seasons and waters. A long leader and tippet is effective for nymphing, usually in clear and overfished waters.

Streamers are bigger wet flies imitating baitfish like minnows, sculpins and bigger appetizing food. Streamers usually work best near the bottom and are generally quickly retrieved for salmon, bigger trout and also for saltwater fish. Bigger flies like streamers, may also result in a bigger catch, but it is not uncommon to catch smaller trout with this fly. Artificial streamers can be made with many different materials and colors.

Dry flies, wets, nymphs and streamers are all effective when used for the right conditions. The secret to getting the most out your fishing is to use different techniques constantly experiment. Don’t be afraid to try different types of flies and patterns, especially if the fishing is slow. So no matter what country you live in and regardless of how you classify your flies, make sure you have a variety and when one isn’t working, try another. Now you are ready to catch the big one!

Located in beautiful south central Alaska, the Kenai Peninsula is home to, of course, the world famous Kenai River and is dotted with many secluded lakes and ponds perfect for Kenai fishing. The area has many varieties of salmon, dolly varden, rainbow trout, black bass, arctic char, sockeyes, and many other kinds of fish. A Kenai fishing trip is the key to a real Alaskan adventure vacation.

In 2004 Field & Stream magazine named this area North America’s number one fishing hotspot, and for good reason. The Kenai River has been home to many record breaking and noteworthy catches. The world record King Salmon catch that topped the scales at just over 97 pounds was caught by Les Anderson, a long time Soldotna, Alaska resident, while Kenai fishing. It was several hours before the fish was officially weighed and recorded and many fish and game experts have agreed that the King Salmon was probably well over 100 pounds when he was caught. Soldotna now holds an annual King Salmon Derby, and the next person out Kenai fishing who catches a King Salmon larger than Andersons, will also win $50,000 from the town.

Not only does the area boast of much natural beauty and many record breaking catches- it has an unusually long fishing season as well. This not only makes Kenai fishing popular among anglers but helps keep the Kenai Peninsula from overcrowding, so you can enjoy the famous Alaskan solitude while on your Kenai fishing trip. With the popularity of Kenai fishing, it should be of no surprise that you will find many options to make your fishing trip one to remember. Whether you are a fly fisherman, saltwater fisherman, expert, or just starting out, you will find a guided fishing tour or charter that appeals to you and your level of experience. During Kenai fishing, you will find accommodations ranging from small fishing cabins, to world class resorts, and everything in between.

His name is Jeff Berry! It doesn’t matter if you consider yourself to be a seasoned vet or a wanna be Jeff has created one of the most amazing courses on fly fishing that I have ever read.
Jeff has been fly fishing for over 10 years, and if it there is a fly fishing tip, trick or strategy out there chances are Jeff has tried it. Jeff’s course will teach you casting secrets that you will not learn anywhere else on the planet.
I bet you thought that you knew how to select the best rod for you… WRONG! I thought the same thing too; boy was blown away when I finally discovered how to choose the rod that is right for me.
The thing that sold me on Jeff’s course is that he believes in it so much that he is offering a 100% 56 day money-back guarantee.
On top of receiving one of the most detailed fly fishing courses ever created Jeff is currently giving away another book as a special gift called, “Fly Fishing Basics”. This is a 50 page book which covers such things as, “The best way to practice at home, 4 top bait choices no expert would do without, 5 lures that any self respecting Fly Fisher wouldn’t do without, and much much more.
Not only has Jeff poured his heart and soul into this course he is also giving away another 50 page book for those who download his course entitled, “101 Fly Fishing Secrets”. If you are or are thinking of becoming a fly fisherman or you are currently into fly fishing you owe it to yourself to go right now and download your copy of Jeff Berry’s , “Ultimate Fly Fishing Secrets”.

You are bound to hear a ton of stories about Fly Fishing in Canada. Sure there are a lot of other things to do in Canada. However nothing in the world can beat the fly fishing Canada.

If you are from the US and visiting Canada in search of some fly fishing Canada fun and adventure, your dollar will take you very far, but you do not have to travel that much to get to a perfect fly fishing spot. There are many fly fishing spots in Canada that it is possible to locate or relocate from one to another within a matter of minutes. If you are crossing the boarder from the US to try out some fly fishing in Canada, you will feel like you are fishing in your back yard. Canada fly fishing spots have the best game for any angler, the fish are actually replenished by the fishing sport authority to ensure the best game through the year.

It is actually possible for any angler to have a gala time fishing the best fly fishing spots in Canada for just under a thousand dollars. This fishing trip includes every amenity you might require including your own private cabin for the duration of the trip. Apart from fishing you will find yourself enjoying a lot of trekking along the fantastic countryside when you relocate from one fly fishing Canada spot to another. All the locations that Canada has to offer will have a good population of a variety of fish including small mouth bass, trout, and walleye. Make sure you have the proper equipment on this trip because you will be lured to wade in the fishing waters for a little bit of exploring, and don’t worry about having to search for a good place to perch or how long a fishing pole you must take with you. All the fishing spots in Canada have many trees branching out way over the water; you can perch on any one with the shortest fishing pole and be able to reach the middle of the water body you are fly fishing in.

You have a choice to get there by air, horseback, car or even trek it. If you choose to take a chopper to your fly fishing center, you will be able to fish in the most remote parts of Canada and enjoy a fly fishing Canada adventure of a lifetime.
