Many fisherman never think to plan a fishing trip to the state of Michigan. Most have never heard of Lake St. Clair, Lake Erie, Saginaw Bay, and several inland lakes that offer some of the best small mouth bass fishing that you have ever seen. If you are inspired by this article and are considering planning a fishing trip to Michigan, you should know that the time to go is from April through December and the seasons provide a wide array of fishing opportunities for every type of angler.

You will probably receive the best results if you plan your trip in the early spring through the spawn. This has proven to be the most exciting time of year in my personal opinion. Many fish are visible, and they just love baits like the super flukes and spinner baits. Those lures are almost hypnotic to them for some reason… Only if the fish could talk.

In Michigan’s lakes the fish are normally found in the deeper waters as they settle into their summer routines. By the time mid summer hits they are schooled and feeding like crazy. From my personal experience the bass fishing at this time of year will yield you anywhere from twenty five to forty fish per day. The average fish weighs almost seven pounds.

During the fall of the year the small mouth bass start feeding aggressively. You are guaranteed to find the bass in the shallow parts. Some of the largest fish ever caught in Michigan lakes have been caught as the ice over approaches. This is when the bass are looking to feed. There is a benefit to scheduling bass fishing trips at this time of the year, because there is little boat traffic. You are pretty much guaranteed to have most of the hot spots to yourself. I must warn you that you need to have your cold weather gear. If you are a fisherman that are not use to this type of weather conditions you may want to reconsider. Michigan during the cold weather season isn’t for everyone although the reward is well worth it.

You have a wide variety of fishing options available to you throughout Michigan, particularly for small mouth bass fishing. For example The Grand Traverse Bay, Thunder Bay, Bay De Noc just to name a few. Those lakes offer untouched fishing opportunities for the real fisherman. You will be able to return with stories of “I caught one this big”. You may want to consider the inland lakes for Michigan’s small mouth bass.

While your there you may want to consider catching a few walleye fish. The Detroit River in the spring is where they all migrate from Lake Erie.

If you are interested in doing some white bass fishing I recommend to go around May through mid June and hit Lakes Erie and St. Clair. This is also a great time for top water bass fishing opportunities. At this time is where spawning white bass are making their way up the river. These fish are eager to bite at anything resembling a minnow so this makes fishing simple and easy during this time.

One of the best things you must do to design a great angling trip is to distinguish your priorities. You require to be more specified than just saying you want special fishing trip. Great fishing may mean opposite things to for each one person in your fishing company.

One individual might be glad with catching 60 fish per day, while another might be hoping for 30 fish per hour. So, you require to decide this up in advance.

Let us take look at some of the most essential things to look at when deciding where to go on your fishing trip.

What type of fish do you are you wishing to catch?

While this may appear transparent, it is something that wants to be talked about. One individual may want to fish for walleye and northern pike, while others may want to go bass fishing. Since some northern lakes have water too frozen for bass, you may finish up at a lake that would really disappoint the bass fisherman.

Do you wish for tons of activity? Or trophy fish?

Some anglers simply enjoy getting lots of fish with the desire of getting a few huge ones. Other fishermen would sooner give up catching a large quantity of fish for a better opportunity at catching the greatest fish they can find. You need to resolve which is more important to your fishing trip… lots of fish that perhaps aren’t the hugest or less fish but a better opportunity of a truly big one.

It should be mentioned that there are many places where you can do both… catch heaps of fish and get tremendous huge ones. But, these tend to be at the more distant and high-priced lodges and are not always doable for many fishing groups.

How are you going to catch your fish?

Do you like to troll? Or drift? Fish in flows? Deep water fish?

We’ve seen people trolling in sixty feet of water thinking the fish were only a couple of feet from the surface of the water. Not much prospect of catching anything this way. Be sure you know the type of fishing your group favors and that the lake will offer it.

What do you require to expend for this fishing trip?

The price you’re ready to pay will have a huge impact on the type of fishing trip you will have.

Be realistic. How much do you really desire to spend? Are you happy to camp or tar-paper hut on a lake with tremendous sport fishing?

Or would you favour staying at a more upscale fishing inn?

Do you want to take care of yourself… or do you want the fishing camp to do the cookery?

And what about shower installations? Are you happy to use a residential area shower bath or do you want a private shower and bath in your own cabin. Gentlemen, if you are taking your mate on this trip, make utterly sure you look at this one! If you do not, it could mess up an otherwise tremendous trip.

Other things to think about are how extended the trip will be and the type of fish you are wanting to catch. A trip to a fishing hostelry on a lake with pan fish and bass will in all probability be much less money that a trip to Alaska or Northern Canada for arctic charge.

So, if you in truth want a great fishing trip, begin by planning just exactly what you require out of the trip and how much you are prepared to expend. Do it the right way and you can have the fishing trip of your lifetime.

by Bryan Jakes

You might be surprised to know that fly fishing can be a dangerous sport. Fly fishing can also have its rewards with relaxation being at the top of the list.

Bad weather, fishing tackle malfunctions, and snagged and tangled lines can cause a lot of grief if you haven’t prepared ahead of time for such challenges.

Tangled lines are one of the most frustrating things you may have to deal with when fly fishing along banks that have a lot of brush and undergrowth. Take immediate action to get your line untangled if you’ve thrown your lure into a brushy area. If it’s tangled on a small branch or twig sometimes the easiest thing is to break the snare off.

And if you get hung up on a really big log you may have to cut your line. Unfortunately this can cause other problems such as having a lure or hook floating in an area where a fish can get caught on the tangled line, but not be reached by the angler.

There are several items in your fly fishing gear that can have sharp edges. These can be hazardous if you are not careful. You can cut yourself or get a hook stuck in your thumb while removing it from your catch. A necessary part of your fly fishing tackle is a first aid kit with medicated spray and peroxide, paper towels, cotton, band-aids, and other bandages.

If you are bass fishing with live or frozen bait you can divide them in order to not run out before your fishing trip is over. A piece of a wiggly worm is better than no worm at all.

When you’re preparing to pack your clothes and fishing equipment for your trip check the weather. Knowing what the weather is forecast will help you to know whether you need warm, cool, or water resistant clothes. This can make the difference between a great fishing trip and a sour one.

Continue to monitor the weather, whether you are bass fishing from a boat or fly fishing along the shoreline. If a sudden storm comes up and lightning is starting to strike, head immediately to shore. Even on land, be aware of such conditions as darkening skies and flash floods.

Remember safety and preparation can mean the difference between a great fishing trip and disaster.

A lot of different fly fishing knots are available for your use while you’re out on a fishing trip. Some of the knots you can use are the Arbor knot, the Albright knot, the Blood knot, dropper loop, nail knot and improved clinch. Each of these knots have a different purpose.

An Albright knot is used to join your fly line and your fly reel backing line. As you tie this knot, remember to wind your loops around the loop of the larger line in a neat fashion. This loop will pass through guides, so make sure that it is tied and wound well. Fishermen sometimes cover this knot with rubber cement, making it secure and smoother for passing through the guides on your pole.

The Arbor knot is one of the fly fishing knots used to attach the fishing line to the fishing reel, also known as the Arbor. When you tie this knot it is essential you use the second overhand knot. It is recommended you wind the loop two times around the arbor before you make the first half hitch. This will increase friction which works well on polished reels. This knot is easy to learn and very effective.

The blood knot, another of the most important fly fishing knots, is used when you need to join two lines which are roughly equal in size. For instance, you would use this knot when joining sections of leader or tippet. There is more than one way to tie this knot, the best being to overlap the ends of the lines you are joining and twist them together about ten times. You can make a hole in the center of these twists and pass one end the opposite way through the hole. This knot, if tied correctly will be symmetrical in the middle. This is also an easy knot and will come in handy quite often.

Another of the basic fly fishing knots is the dropper loop. This knot can help you to prevent tangles in your line. You create a loop in the middle of your leader with this knot, which gives you another place to put a fly. You can make this loop my wrapping one line around the leader at the point of overlap. This loop should look symmetrical on both sides.

The nail knot is one of the fly fishing knots you will likely find yourself using often. You generally use a nail knot to tie lines of two different sizes to one another. Thread the smaller of the two through the loops using a straw (or nail, or needle). This knot passes through guides with no trouble, being small and smooth.

There are many different fly fishing knots you might decide to use. You should learn many of these different knots because there are many different circumstances you will need to use them.

Most of these knots are easy to tie and use and you will find yourself using them regularly. Practice some of these knots before you go fly fishing.

They say that everything is bigger in Texas. Big beef and big hair are found in the Lone Star State. Being the largest of the lower forty-eight states, that is to be expected. Although bigger isn’t always better; if you are thinking saltwater fishing, it surely is. Big fish are definitely there to be caught when you take a Texas saltwater fishing trip.

For a truly memorable vacation, Texas is known for its great food, big portions, lovely scenery and terrific fishing. You can do well fishing the upper, middle, or lower coast, as Texas saltwater fishing is hotter than a steer looking for water in the summer. This is also where speckled trout and redfish are awesome.

The whole family will enjoy fun in the surf at Galveston and Texas City. There are some great fish to be had and the oyster reefs are just right for wading.

If you want to try something new on your Texas saltwater fishing trip, charter a fishing boat and go on down the Gulf of Mexico. The blue water offers some great fishing. Tuna, amberjack, snapper, ling, sharks, grouper, and bullfish are out there just waiting for your baited hook.

There is so much to do on a Texas saltwater fishing trip. The Gulf Coast can be a great getaway for one person or the right spot for a fantastic family vacation. Should you want specific information on where to go Texas saltwater fishing, you will want to contact local charter companies and spend some time examining their fishing reports. You can also look up some local guides to learn just what is available to cover your interests.

Should you want even more information, head to the Internet and round up all of the data available for adventures in Texas saltwater fishing. To locate fishing reports, just go online. You can also locate guide and charter information, gear, articles on saltwater fishing, and whatever else you might wish to know about a Texas fishing trip. The Internet will also have photographs of what you may experience on your trip.

Texas is not only a place for fun and fishing, but it is a place where you can check out a little bit of what made our country such an amazing place. This is a family-friendly state with an abundance of American history to take in.

There are other wonderful attractions such as beautiful beaches for swimming, exciting theme parks, home-cooked meals, Tex-Mex food and more cultural experiences than you realize. When you plan a Texas vacation, you will experience much of what they have to offer, especially their saltwater fishing.

It gives them a lot of enjoyment and excitement as well. It is now already popular in most countries which have an endowed resource of water. Mexico bass fishing is being done in lakes. And one of the best popular places of bass fishing in the world is in Mexico. Mexico Bass fishing is an awesome and ultimate experience because it has some of the best bass fishing in the world. By its good environment and productive resource of water, most anglers and travelers fish here. Mexican bass lakes like Huites, El Salto, Baccarac, Agua Milpa, Comedero and Guerrero can offer basses over 10 pounds on any given cast.

Because of its nature’s beauty, it can never be said that it is god’s gift. The sheer anticipation of a Mexico Bass fishing trip is enough to drive any angler obsessed. Crazy anglers are being encouraged for it can produce well. Mexico bass fishing can be done on the greatest black bass lakes in the world. There are four such lakes on the West coast of Mexico: Lake El Salto , Lake Agua Milpa, Lake Huites , Lake Baccarac ,Lake Comedero.

Lake El Salto produces more double-digit bass than any bass lake in the world. It is a 23,000 acre impoundment, home to some of the very best Largemouth Bass fishing in Mexico and in the world. It is located 50 miles north of the beautiful seaside resort of Mazatlan. Over a thousand of bass ranging over 10 pounds have been caught and released at this great Mexico bass fishing lake. Lake Agua Milpa, offers big numbers of quality largemouth bass. Also, Lake Huites is considered to be one of the finest waters among the rest. Thus, Lake Baccarac is an ideal hotspot for catching large mouthed bass. It is the best big bass lake in the entire world. The first fishing season was beyond most anglers’ dreams and the lake has been improving every year. The lake is approximately 25 miles long and 5 miles wide. It is within among green forested mountain peaks. This is one of the best places for mexico bass fishing.

Lake Comedero is a beautiful mountain lake within the Sierra Madre Mountains 100 miles notheast of the seaside resort of Mazatlan. It has clear and cool water with thousands of hungry black bass striking almost any type of lure all year. It is the world’s best bass lake for numbers of bass from 8 lbs. to 12 lbs. with some bass ranging from 12 to 15 lbs. Believe I’ve been there and its one of the top Mexico bass fishing lakes. The bass fishing at each lake differs because of the age of each Lake. Mostly the older lakes produce larger bass but not quite as many numbers as the newer lakes.

On the other hand, East coast of Mexico has two great Lakes for Mexico bass fishing. Lake Guerrero, producing numbers with an occasional ten-pound plus; Lake El Cuchillo, the newest Mexico bass fishing lake of them. It is located less than a hundred miles south of the Texas/Mexico border. It has been producing some very impressive catches. Mexico bass fishing is the best bass fishing in the world because of its two primary reasons.
