Most anglers who buy baits use them with blind faith because they really do not appreciate what actually happens in the fish that induces them to take a bait into their mouths and in doing so get themselves hooked! Imagine the power of being able to harness this knowledge where applicable. How much do think this advantage over the fish and over other anglers will multiply your catches?

Bait always involves confidence and indeed many anglers constantly doubt their bait because they do not understand how they truly work, except having very limited and even incorrect ideas or impressions about proteins or flavours; as a result, many anglers are negative about certain baits, without even ever having used them personally! Confidence catches fish for many reasons because it makes you fish better and be sharper and more tuned-in and expectant of success, so you tend to do more things right at the right time, more often, but you can all the confidence in the world and still blank because of a lack of knowledge and understanding! Confidence is the thing that sells commercial readymade baits and anglers take second-hand opinions from so-called big-name anglers thinking they will emulate their success using the same bait, forgetting that many (not all) big-name anglers are the most skilled and talented anglers of their generation.

Why would you care of you knew anything more about bait anyway; after all you catch fish right, and you have confidence in your baits? The difference between you running against an Olympic champion and expecting to win is you can try hard as you can with the amount you already have or know, but the Olympic champion has prepared in as many ways as fully as possible for a very long time; and that is why he is the best; talent at the top is not enough! In many ways use of flavours is like a race, where so many are simple taste or flavour carriers and mere attractors, (not feeding triggers) but others are like live rocket fuel by comparison, but you could spend your life missing out by not finding out; because most anglers keep secrets to themselves…

Many secrets are hidden from our senses but uncovered very easily by a little messing about with baits and some very elementary science, for instance, many carp bait substances change when in water into different ones to those we experience as humans in air… Garlic releases that pungent smell when broken in air and we are all familiar with similar compounds from onions and chives for example. But the smells from garlic we associate with its success are not strictly accurate, as certain of the key chemicals do not get produced in water the same as in air, and this might suggest to some thinking anglers that far more is going on, perhaps on a more deeper level to do with the biology of the fish in response to bioactive garlic substances rather than just a smell or taste.

Carp may be influenced far more profoundly by internal impacts on their bodies than a simple flavour or taste offers and many proteins are thermogenic involving extra releasing of energy, and salmon is a very successful example of this, but poultry too for instance, but bait ingredients and substances impact on the brain, some far more powerfully than others! I tried an experiment today by eating wheat-free biscuits and an wheat-free doughnut too! However, after even the first bite, even though ingredients were virtually the same as the wheat-containing biscuits and doughnuts (but for only one key aspect,) taking another bite was more of a pain than a pleasure. All those good sweeteners, taste-enhancers, fruit flavours etc should have made me want to eat more right, but they did not, because I had got used to expecting something else to happen that did not; a release of feel-good hormones in the brain…

What a disappointment it was to eat the wheat-free foods and not want more! Although they still have all the same ingredients like the flavours, sweeteners and enhancers etc, something vital was missing that made me want to keep on eating and this is why I only had one doughnut; Homer Simpson would have been shocked to say the least! There was no key vital substance in the food to make my brain release a rush of feel-good hormones that occurs naturally in the wheat-based foods.

If you apply this to fishing, it is like using a bait with a flavour and sweetener, and fishing next to it a bait with the same ingredients exactly, but with that extra vital brain chemical releasing impact. Which food or bait will catch more fish and which might you go for preferentially?! As it is your brain the makes the decision for your body you may have no choice and you may have noticed that so many people over-eat wheat-based foods and store-up fat as a result despite this being far from a healthy thing to do; it’s natural drug-induced behaviour for sure, even though certain emotions are frequently still involved!

When you look, you won’t believe how hard it is to get away from wheat in your diet as it is exploited so much in modern foods to get you to eat more and buy more in regular, habitual ways! Even in carp fishing it is recognised that fish eating baits without supplemental nutritional foods can drop weight as with fish addicted to tiger nuts or peanuts alone, so using such things as part of your nutritional bait is a massive edge. You might not call it manipulating carp behaviours in your favour, or call it creating addictive or habit-forming behaviours, but it works in practice; you are your own guinea-pig every day! These edges are supplied to you by the bait secrets ebooks author with more experience of eating healthy biscuits and doughnuts (probably,) than any other author!

When you use carp bait blind without knowing how it works you are using blind faith. In contrast, if you understood far more how and why key aspects of that bait induced bites and had the power to manipulate these potent effect far more then your catches will definitely improve. Read on to find out more…

Confidence in a bag, (or bottle) when it come to bait is one of great personal opinions for every angler, because the truth is everyone has different experiences even on the same baits, at different waters, and many anglers with put down other baits even though they have never even used them, which is a tad bit short-sighted perhaps. Confidence mostly comes from perceptions in fishing, and certainly not from first-hand experience. But it is first-hand personal experience that is the only thing you can truly trust as fact, but I do not mean by this that claims about commercial bait quality and effectiveness are not true.

Now you might wonder what all this confidence stuff has to do with actually knowing something useful about vital carp senses beyond appreciating that they like a bit of protein or a maybe have a flavour preference now and again. In terms of flavours, not all are the same! If I suggested that chilli powder can help your bait be detected from greater range by senses involving various specialised receptor cells and specialised canal pits along the lateral line (and in the actual skin of the fish,) this might be new to many.

Science is tricky and seemingly irrelevant for many anglers until they realise the enormous significance that chemicals change in solution with water and many substances are simply not the same in water as air, and fish are experiencing different chemicals all over their bodies and not just on the tongue like humans. Imagine garlic on the tongue; it is mixed with air and saliva, but in mixed just water, garlic produces different compounds and the tastes and smells we experience as humans will be different ones that carp experience. This means that the flavours or pungent smells we might imagine impact on the fish may well not be present in the same form at all, and this might mean that something else is triggering a response from carp, even an internal one where something in garlic is acting to produce thermogenic (metabolism and digestion speeding-up effects for example,) and even have very potent antioxidant and antimicrobial impacts etc.

Perhaps you might begin to think maybe something other than just smell and taste was influential and impacting on the carp; maybe something more profound, internal and physiological, or even psychological… To help clarify this big point, I ate a wheat-free biscuit (and wheat-free doughnut today!) Comparing the ingredients with the wheat-containing versions, the only substitution was that the wheat-free foods were based on maize flour, tapioca starch, soya flour and rice flour. All the rest of the ingredients in the wheat-free products were the same as the conventional wheat-based biscuits and doughnuts, including the fruit flavours, sweeteners, acidity regulators, (preservatives) and enhancers etc.

Now when I ate these foods, the bit that made me want another wheat-based doughnut or biscuit after eating the first one had disappeared from the wheat-free products, (and what a surprise and disappointment that was!) This meant that something beyond just taste and smell impacts was involved. Something that effected the release of those feel-good hormones in the brain were gone and I really noticed the difference!

Just imagine eating a food for years without that feel-good feeling after each morsel; making you want another one, and then eating one which does have this effect. Which one would you choose?! I don?t think you would have much choice; your brain will decide for you, and that is one reason why over-weight comfort food eaters who binge on cakes, biscuits, chocolate and many other foods, regularly can?t help themselves.

When you look, you won’t believe how hard it is to get away from wheat in your diet as it is exploited so much in modern foods to get you to eat more and buy more in regular, habitual ways! Even in carp fishing it is recognized that fish eating baits without supplemental nutritional foods can drop weight as with fish addicted to tiger nuts or peanuts alone, so using such things as part of your nutritional bait is a massive edge. You might not call it manipulating carp behaviors in your favor, or call it creating addictive or habit-forming behaviors, but it works in practice; you are your own guinea-pig every day! These edges are supplied to you by the bait secrets ebooks author with more experience of eating healthy biscuits and doughnuts (probably,) than any other author!

by John Andrews

Some people might not think that choosing the right fishing line would be so complex but it is. You need to pick the line that’s best for the kind of fish you’re fishing for. There are some other factors that will come into play as well. The line you use is the absolutely most important item your tackle box.

This major role will determine if you have successful day fishing or go home without any fish at all. There are enormous amounts of available line on the market today; however choosing the right fishing line can be very easy as long as you know what you actually are looking for.

To be a good fisherman you need to understand the pros vs. the cons of the line you’re using. The line is your lifeblood. A lot of fishermen get confused about choosing the best fishing line. This is mostly caused by them being uneducated in the many choices that’s on the market today.

One of the more popular lines out today is the monofilament line. This line was produced in 1938 and was made by DuPont. This is a synthetic super polymer which makes textile fibers like silk, cotton, wool and rayon stronger. This line is used by many for basic lake fishing. If your going to be doing some deep sea fishing then choosing this line wouldn’t be a good choice when choosing the right fishing line because you’ll need a lot of line strength and this just doesn’t have it.

Braided line was the most popular of the strings before nylon was discovered. However, braided Dacron had very poor strength and the knots were just too shady to make a real difference. It has very little stretch so, if you are looking to catch a fish that is going to put up a bit of a fight, this string will not do the job.

Another popular polymer line is Fluorocarbon, this can be a great pick when choosing the right fishing line. This line has a identical refractive index making it practically invisible in the water. It won’t absorb water either. This will make the line last for a very long time.

Super lines will require special attention. Fluorocarbon is a super line. To get the best possible result when using this line we recommend a Trilene knot. Always make sure you wet the line when knotting it. This will give you a more secured knot. This will also keep your line from weakening over time. As with any line make sure you test it before using it. There have been many lost lures because people just don’t test the line before using it.

Choosing the right fishing line may seem more complex than it really is and will become easier for the years of practice. Always remember to choose the line that will best fit your needs when it comes to the type of fish you’ll be catching and water you’ll be in.

by Chipper Blakey

The most important piece of equipment to fly fishermen is the fly fishing reel. There are many different kinds of reels as well as there are different kinds of rods for different situations. It is not necessary to lay down a bunch of money for a new reel, although you can if you would like. A basic no frills fly reel will do in just about any situation, and if you do your homework and choose wisely, you will not have a need to replace it for many years.

Most trout fishermen strip their fly line manually rather than using the handle. Most fishermen will tell you that it is quicker to do it by hand, and you get more of a feel for the placement of your lure by keeping the line in your hand.

Depending on the situation that you are in, sometimes it is better to reel the line in manually and sometimes it is preferable to use the handle. When following a large fish most people prefer to use the handle for better control. Another situation to use the handle is when you have thick foliage and there is a chance of getting your line caught. If you are moving around in the water a lot, using the handle is a good idea.

Fishermen who reel their line in the most frequent are salmon fishermen. The reason of this is because more often than not, salmon fishermen will be in the water fishing. Trout reels are usually smaller than salmon reels, and are normally not as efficient in reeling line in as salmon reels are.

Technology is improving by leaps and bounds due to research companies like Sage in the fly fishing industry. Also fly fishing equipment is getting lighter with the use of graphite. A lot of your veteran fly fishermen prefer the older reels with a bit of weight in them to maintain the balance that they are familiar with.

If you have your eye on a new fly fishing reel, consider purchasing two so that you will have a backup. You will not want to have only one reel when it goes bad in the field. A trick to help you in your decision is to mark your line weight so there will be no guesswork involved. You will save yourself a lot of time when preparing for your fishing trip.

It is a good idea to get a storage bag for your extra fishing reels for protection. Most of the time backup reels find themselves in the bottom of tackle boxes for extended periods of time. Free reels in the bottom of tackle boxes can get damaged, and you might not realize this until it is needed.

As a salmon fisherman most people prefer to have different rods, which will save on time in having to change out reels and line. Most salmon enthusiasts will have two complete rod and reel setups, one for sunk line fishing and one for float rods.

Doing your research of what you will be fishing for and in what situations will move you one step closer in choosing the right Reel for your situation. There are numerous places on the web such as Ebay for choices on used fly fishing equipment.

Trout fishermen are known for preferring to strip their line by hand instead of using the handle. The reason for stripping by hand is that it is much quicker and gives the fishermen a better touch by holding the line in their hands.

It seems that salmon fishermen reel their line in the most frequently. Salmon fishermen are more likely to be in the water fishing and this is the reason they reel their line in. The larger salmon reels are more efficient in reeling line in, than there sister trout reels.

Fishing technology is improving by huge measures every year, companies like Sage is leading the way in this avenue. Also fly fishing equipment is getting lighter and lighter with materials such as graphite being used. Many of your veteran fishermen prefer the weighty older reels because it gave their rod a sense of balance.

If you are thinking of purchasing a new fly fishing reel, you might consider getting two, one for your main and one for a backup in case of malfunction. To help in the selection process mark your line weight on your reel, and you will not have to guess in the correct reel that you need. This will save loads of time when getting ready for your fishing trip.

keeping your extra reels in a special storage bag is a good protection for your investment. It seems that backup reels often end up in the bottom of your tackle box for long periods of time. Keeping it loose in your box can cause it to get damaged without your knowledge until it is too late and you need it.

It is good to have different rods as a salmon fisherman, this will save you time in having to change out reels and line. Many salmon fishermen will have two complete set ups, one for floating rods, and the other for sunk lines.

Doing your research of what you will be fishing for and in what situations will move you one step closer in choosing the right Reel for your situation. There are numerous places on the web such as Ebay for choices on used fly fishing equipment.

The plastic worm comes in sizes from 3 inches to over 10 inches long. They are available in array of colors. What ever the size or color you choose they all do the same thing and that is catching bass. They can be rigged different ways to make it more interesting when trying to catch the big one!

Spinner-baits are known to catch a great deal of bass and they are very good bait for covering a lot of water quickly to find fish. In addition they tend to catch much larger bass than other lures on the market. They vary in style and come in an assortment of blades, colors and sizes.

Still used all around the world and arguably the best lure ever is the jig and pig.

Fishermen worldwide win a good percentage of tournaments every year by using the jig and pig lures. The lure looks like a crawfish from the bottom of the water. One of basses favorite foods are crawfish.

The most common lure is a buck-tail Jig. The buck-tail lure is responsible for saving many lives to this day because of its dependability. Most of all your survival kits include this lure. This lure is capable of catching bass under any condition and just might be for best friend in bad situations.

by John Andrews

One of the most difficult and oldest forms of fishing is fly-fishing. Because fly-fishing is not as popular as it was years ago, there has been shortage in fly-fishing gear. Over the last decade fly fishing has started to become more popular again, due to this fact fly fishing gear is starting to become popular again as well.

Fly-fishing gear tends to have a dark side. There are many different components that one needs to fly fish properly. The fancy terminology that is commonly used and the rather steep prices fly fishermen have to pay for good gear, has all conspired to compose selecting the right fly fishing gear a rather difficult choice.

Some necessities of fly-fishing bear are, a fly fishing rod, fishing without a rod cannot be done. A fly reel, which is what holds the line and reels it in. A fly line is also a necessity because a person cannot catch a fish without a line.

These three items are absolutely necessary gears that have to be purchased in order to fly fish. Purchasing these items at a discounted price should be avoided. These items should be the ones that the most money is spent on, because they are what guarantees a good fly-fishing experience and the ability to fly fish at all.

A fly vest should be worn while fly fishing, this hold all eh flies and little equipment that is used while fishing, since a person is wading in the water when they are fly fishing. Wading boots should be worn at all times, that way the fisherman has good balance and is not getting his or her feet messed up. The last item is waders; this will protect the fisherman’s body, and not scare the fish away, being that it blends into the water.

Wearing the three tackles listed above are not necessary but strongly advised. These items will help to protect the fisherman and make catching fish a little easier. The wading boots are the most important out of the three, because they are what is in the water at all times.

A fly fisherman should carry with him or her a variety of different flies to cast and a tackle box. Fly-fishing sunglasses should be worn as well. The glasses will help the fisherman to see the fish and cast the fly correctly.

Fly-fishing gear is a lot of money and there is so much gear that is needed to fly fish. A person should be cautious when purchasing fly gear for a discounted price; they need to ask themselves why it is being discounted. The clothes that need to be worn during fly fishing do not need to be the best quality, cheap quality will get the job done.

When it comes to the reel and rod always consider why it is discounted. Sunglasses should be cautioned as well. Most fly-fishing gear will last a long time, but because it is so expensive a person should really consider what is worth spending more money on and what will last the longest.
